I am trying to setup a VPN for XP PC to the Server, but must tunnel under the Linksys VPN router. This was working at one time but was not used for a year and can not conneced now. Using WAN Miniport (PPTP) and I think Microsoft VPN. It is not QuickVPN. I don't know how to check to see if it is reachable. Please explain procedure. Now you simply have to keep an eye on how long it takes for the VPN server to respond. If after a minute you don’t see any change, there is more than likely an issue with the server. OK.. so we have a Win XP Pro client trying to connect to a MS server with a PPTP VPN connection. I'm assuming the traffic is passed through the firewall at the boundry or the server is on a public

Select Use preshared key for authentication, and click ""OK"". Windows 7 VPN Setup Wizard does not ask for the shared key when doing the setup. You need to manually input the shared key under the VPN properties. I've set up two new Windows 8 Pro Sony Vaio laptops today connecting them to our company Domain (Server 2008) one was really easy, no real issues, set up the VPN connection to the office clicked connect and it was in. Proper fix. Switch to PRTG: PRTG VPN monitoring monitors VPN connections and the local network, measures traffic and load, and identifies connection problems.
